How Firm a Foundation!

This week I decided to ask someone for a scripture they like, and I have to say this is one of my favorites. This week's Scripture is in the Book of Mormon in the Book of Helaman chapter 5 verse 12 which says:

" And now, my sons, remember, remember that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation; that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind, yea, when all his hail and his mighty storm shall beat upon you, it shall have no power over you to drag you down to the gulf of misery and endless woe, because of the rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation, a foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall."

When I read this scripture I think of our relationship with the Lord. Our foundation grows deeper and stronger when we read his teachings in the scriptures and pray. Satan tries with his mighty winds and whirlwinds which could be trials, opposition, illnesses, and even temptations. Satan wants us to be miserable and will do anything he can to make that happen. This scripture actually brings a hymn into my mind, "How Firm a Foundation". I love the third verse which says "Fear not, I am with thee; oh, be not dismayed, For I am they God and will still give thee aid. I'll strength thee, help thee, and cause thee to stand, upheld by my righteous, upheld by my righteous,  upheld by my righteous, omnipotent hand." I know as I continue to build my relationship with Christ I will stand strong on his Foundation. As we stand on the Foundation of the Lord we can go through all things that Satan throws at us and stay strong in adversity.

What do you think when you read this scripture? How do you think you can build your Foundation with Christ stronger this week? If you have any comments feel free to post it on the Bottom of the page or on my Facebook page. I would also like to attach a link to the Song "How Firm a Foundation" so everyone will have an opportunity to hear for themselves the words of this beautiful song. Look not behind thee

This last week I've been thinking about our Savior Jesus Christ and all that he has done for us. One of the things that stands out to me about Christ is how he forgives everyone when they try their best to change for the better. Everyone will make mistakes at some point in their life. We can be forgiven by Christ when we change for what is right.

When I think of Repentance, the story of the woman taken in adultery come to my mind, in St. John Chapter 8 Verse's 10-11. Which says:

" 10. When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee?
  11. she said, no man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more."

I think of the mistakes I have made, and the promise that Jesus had made to each of us. He asks of us to turn away from the sins we have committed, which means to stop whatever sin we have done and to not repeat those mistakes again. (Like the picture above "Look not behind thee"). Doing this shows our Heavenly Father that we are sorry for what we have done. If we do this he will forget the mistakes we have made. If we follow Christ and his perfect example we can grow closer to him and our Heavenly Father.

What does this passage of scripture mean to you? How do you think you can improve and change something to bring yourself closer to God and Jesus Christ? Please feel free to comment on what you think about this scripture or thoughts you have on this blog?

Our Kind of Service

I was thinking about what I was going to do for this weeks Blog scripture and I came across a picture that I really liked. So the topic of the day is Service, the Scripture that I thought to use was one from my favorite chapter in the Book of Mormon in the Book of Mosiah chapter 2 verse 17 which reads:

"And behold, I tell you these things that ye may learn wisdom; that ye may learn that when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God."

Reading this scripture and looking at this picture has really made me think of what kind of service we all can do, each of us are unique and in someway. I like how this scripture says that it is the purpose of wisdom that we are learning these things from the scripture and I believe that it is right, as this verse says that if we do service for others its as if we were doing it to God. I know that every time I help someone I always feel good from helping others with things. A Talent that I can think that I have been blessed with is to be able to play the flute I have found that playing music for others has helped some feel at peace and comfort when they hear me play. I find that this talent has been a blessing to me and those around me and I'm happy when I can do service for them.

This is what I think about this scripture, what do you think about it? If you haven't thought of it before what kind of Talent do you have and have you used it to serve someone? Comment below or comment on my Facebook say what you think. If you have a scripture you would like me to talk about please let me know. Thanks for taking the time to read my Blog!

Trial of Faith

This week I have another scripture that I have had someone from my ward pick a scripture he liked and he picked a really good scripture (in my opinion) in Ether chapter 12 verse 6 which says:

"And now, I, Moroni, would speak somewhat concerning these things; I would show unto the world that faith is things which are hoped for and not seen; wherefore, dispute not because ye see not, for ye receive no witness until after the trial of your faith."

I really like this verse, because this talks about faith how it is like a test, even though we cannot see the test happening will know how our faith is after the test has happened. When Christ had performed many of the miracles in his life many times he has said "let it be according to thy faith." those miracles were able to happen because of that. We don't have to see things in order for us to know they are true. Having a fair in God and Jesus Christ has helped me in my life and brought comfort, peace, and love. Faith can be a trial, but once we get over the trial we become stronger.
This is what I think about the scripture now what do you think? Please feel free put what you think on here or on Facebook. What does Faith mean to you?
